Have you always wanted to try your hand at starting seeds but not sure how to get started?  Then join us for a seed starting workshop where we'll teach you the fundamentals of germinating seeds indoors.

We'll cover the basics of choosing the right seeds, choosing the right potting mix, and the ideal indoor growing conditions.  We'll also cover how to transition your seedlings to the outdoors in preparation for planting them in the garden.

This will be a hands-on experience, where you'll be starting 4 varieties of cut flowers.*  We'll plant them during the workshop, and you'll take home a total of 24 planted seeds to nurture from germination through planting outside.

*While this workshop is focused on flowers, the skills you learn will also apply to starting veggie plants, if that's more your thing.

There are two workshop dates to choose from, each one with different flowers:

  • In our early spring workshop (Feb 28), we'll be starting cold hearty annuals, like scabiosa (pincushion flower), snapdragon, sweet william, bachelor buttons.  (Exact varieties may change.)
  • In our mid-spring workshop (Mar 21), we'll be starting heat loving summer annuals, like celosia, gomphrena, cosmos, zinnias.  (Exact varieties may change.)

You'll also leave with a seed starting guide filled with instructions and information we've gained via trial and error over years of starting seeds.

No experience is needed for this workshop.  It is designed for people who would like to begin their journey into starting seeds.  However, if you have some experience, you are also welcome to attend!

This workshop will be held at the flower farm in our climate-controlled potting shed space, located adjacent to the flower field.

**Class sizes are limited to 4 people per class for the best experience.  If you have a group who would like to attend together, you may want to have one person buy all the tickets for the group.
